Indigenous Success Australia Group
For over 7 years Indigenous Success Australia (ISA) has been a leader in providing culturally sensitive employment, education, training and enterprise development solutions to major Australian companies and State and Federal Government organisations.
ISA is 100% Indigenous owned and acts as a facilitator to encourage Indigenous Australians to pursue their dreams and aspirations through self-determined effort and at the same time 'work with and show how' corporations, government and community groups can employ and enter business partnerships with Indigenous people.
A close look at current economic and social statistics reveal that work, business and life circumstances for many Indigenous Australians is quite tragic; a situation that is simply unacceptable and unsustainable. We see a need for a national, co-ordinated push by public and private entities that focuses on achievement and success for all Australians, including Indigenous Australians. ISA intends to be a symbolic turning point and launching pad for fresh ideas and approaches in practical programs (education, employment and enterprise) that encourage and 'lay down the path' for achievement and success.
Formerly know as Indigenous Employment Specialists (IES) we have now expanded the nature of our business and have developed a new identity with a fresh outlook.
Our business model highlights achievement and success, and through our products we aim to be a turning point for people who want to improve their life circumstances through self-determined and self-directed effort. In other words we will provide a 'choice' for people as well as the opportunity for them to take control over their future.
We contrast this to the current and often prevalent 'deficit and dependency' models that ultimately turn out to be disabling and disempowering for those who have to endure them. We aim to move beyond the limits of enforced or imposed prescriptions and focus on what really works for individuals and groups to achieve success in contemporary Australian business, employment and social domains.
The ISA Group plans to give Indigenous Australians real choice and opportunity to actively and productively engage in the economic and social life of this country. We will show Indigenous Australians what focusing on achievement and success can create; we will be the example; the 'beacon' and a national leader for Indigenous achievement and success. It is our intent to develop and implement products and services that deliberately engineer a positive shift from a failure to a success orientation across Indigenous Australia.
ISA has the credentials and has already demonstrated the capacity to partner with key public, private and community sector agencies to work with Indigenous Australians for success in employment and enterprise.
Joseph Elu, the Chairman of Indigenous Business Australia, said recently that the past 2 years have been " one of the most exciting times to be involved in Indigenous affairs in Australia", and that, "economic self-sufficiency is the key to unlocking the door of progress for Indigenous communities to improve health standards, address rates of incarceration and continued poverty". We agree, and acknowledge that one of the major challenges is to now find ways and means to inspire and motivate people to want to move forward.
Taking up 'our' rightful place in the economic and social life of this country will require that individuals and family units have a vision of personal success and where that will lead them. Unlocking doors is no guarantee that people will walk through them. Our vision is for an Australia where Indigenous Australians can take their rightful place in the economic and social life of this country and at the same time achieve their dreams and aspirations.
In the movie Appollo 13 there's a scene in which Tom Hanks (playing the part of Jim Lovell, one of the astronauts who walked on the moon), is reminiscing well after the event and remarks that, "we now live in a world where man has walked on the moon. It wasn't a miracle. We just decided to go." We plan to help people; people who have 'decided to go' realise their goals and ambitions.
